Most Cringe Boogaloo Boys

Is it safe to say that Boogaloo Boys have ended their ventures into the real world? I certainly can't rule out that this movement will keep coming back in some other form but to me it feels like the name Boogaloo won't be making a comeback. If anyone is reading this and identifies as a Boogaloo… it’s never too late to quit the movement. Here are the most cringe to ever claim label. I have left out murders like Steve Carrillo as this list focuses on cringe instead. Jimmy Dore brought Magnus Panvidya (real name Zackary Doughtery) into the public discussion when he provided Magnus with a platform that brought Boogaloo Boys national attention.

Magnus would be part of organizing anti-war protests in Washington DC that brought out nearly dozens of people.

Most recently Magnus was revealed to be this Twitter account encouraging 3D printed tools to cause train derailments.

Benjamin Teeter is visually known for being photographed at a Raleigh Subway during an anti-lockdown protest. He would go on to be arrested and convicted for attempting to sell gun parts to a federal agent impersonating Hamas. Even more embarrassing, the real Hamas disavowed Teeter.

Jaap Willem Lijbers was a young man living in the hills of southwest Virginia in the town of Raven. In addition to being a Second Amendment activist that attended Boogaloo rally in Virginia, he was also an undocumented Dutch immigrant who overstayed his Visa. That offense would be unnoticeable, but Lijbers was attracting attention by attending events with a firearm, an unlawful action for non-citizens that lead to his arrest.

Michigan’s Boogaloo Boy Timothy Teagan was arrested back in October 2022 with charges of violence and drug use. The drug… just marijuana. It is rare but Teagan caught the charge of combination possession of firearms and drug use. What was their tip off? Teagan announced it on camera with a livestream that police were watching. Teagan is currently being held without bond.

John Subleski should go down on the Boogaloo Boy who landed himself in trouble after posting himself into a federal conviction. Subleski excitingly called for people to violently take to the streets after watching the events in Washington DC on January 6, 2021. Subleski also fired his gun at traffic and threatened motorists later that day. He would go on to plead guilty to one count of the riot act and served 5 months.

As my preview graphic would suggest that the final one Boog Boy is Kenneth “Mike” Dunn. After all, this feature from Vice depicts Dunn as a careless fool. However, there are two other guys in his shadow that stick out.

Henry Hoeft went to fight in Ukraine with Dunn but as Rolling Stone's Tim Dickinson puts it “it didn't end well.” Hoeft got positive attention for him until he arrived and recorded a video about his rejection from a foreign legion.

David Philips was arrested by the FBI for being in possession of ammunition after a weeklong standoff with law enforcement. According to an interview with Dunn, Dunn was staying with Philips in Bangor, Maine when Dunn turned him in for plotting to blow up a hospital. A serious accusation however this was never mentioned by law enforcement in any of the charging documents even after Philips plead guilty to unlawful possession of ammunition.

In the cases of Hoeft and Philips the most cringe thing they did was put their trust in a person like Dunn. I don't enjoy laughing at someone who tries their best but fortune does that shine on them favorably. However these guys went out of their way to set themselves up for failure. Some of these men have lost their freedom and received punishment with time in correctional facilities. Those facilities will not prevent them from making foolish mistakes in the future. Law enforcement and prisons can only put a pause on erratic and violent behavior.
