Right-wing journalist Andy Ngo was set to appear at The Commonwealth Club in Richmond, Virginia for a speaking event hosted by the Virginia Council and the Common Sense Society. The post from the Common Sense Society listing the location for their event remains as The Commonwealth Club.

A representative from The Commonwealth Club e-mailed RVA Mag to tell them that Ngo would not be speaking. RVA Mag had previous published an op-ed that was critical of both Andy Ngo and The Commonwealth Club. The invitation for Ngo had been rescinded before the op-ed was published and the op-ed from RVA Mag has since been unpublished.

“When originally approached about the event we were not made aware of who the speaker would be. Once we were informed the board and the leadership at the Club made the executive decision to cancel this event as the actions and values that Andy Ngo speaks about do not represent the Club’s values.” Sent in an email to RVA Mag from The Commonwealth Club’s event organizer.

In a radio broadcast interview, John Reid contradicted that he made the decision to move the event. Reid claimed that there were threats from Antifa but did not give any specifics. Reid chimed “I love Richmond but now is not the time to be downtown.”

Reid also said during that same radio broadcast that the event would be held in Henrico County, but ticket holders would not be notified of the location until the week of the event. Ticket prices for Andy Ngo ’s speaking engagement are in the range of $50 to $5000.

While inquiring about the location, Andy Ngo responded with this post.
